เมื่อวันที่ 5 ธันวาคม 2556 สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงริยาด ได้จัดงานเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ที่บริวเณสวนของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ซึ่งได้รับเกียรติจาก H.E. Azzam bin Abdul Karim อธิบดีกรมพิธีการทูต กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เป็นผู้แทนรัฐบาลซาอุดีฯ ในฐานะแขกเกียรติยศเข้าร่วมงานครั้งนี้ โดยนายวิจักขณ์ ชิตรัตน์ อุปทูต ณ กรุงริยาด ได้กล่าวถวายพระพรชัยมงคลแด่พระบามสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว และกล่าวสุนทรพจน์เพื่อเปิดงานดังกล่าว

ภายในงานได้มีการจัดฉายสื่อมัลติมีเดียนำเสนอเกี่ยวกับพระราชกรณียกิจและพระราชอัจฉริยภาพของพระบามสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวในด้านต่างๆ  รวมทั้งนำเสนอเกี่ยวกับศักยภาพของประเทศไทยในด้านเศรษฐกิจ การค้า การลงทุน สถานที่ท่องเที่ยววัฒนธรรมและมีการแสดงรำไทย โดยมีคณะทูตานุทูต ข้าราชการและเจ้าหน้าที่จากหน่วยงานต่างๆ ของซาอุดีฯ นักธุรกิจ นักวิชาการและ Friend of Thailand ร่วมงานกว่า 250 คน

Excellencies, Ambassadors, Members of the Diplomatic Corps,

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is my great honour to extend a very warm welcome to all the distinguished guests, and in particular H.E. Azzam bin Abdul Karim Al Gain, Chief of Protocol, who presents as the guest of honour tonight in celebrating the 86^th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, our beloved King, and the National Day of the Kingdom Thailand.

For 67 years since His Majesty’s accession to the throne in 1946, His Majesty has dedicated his life to improving the livelihoods of Thais as well as for the development of Thailand in general. His Majesty has initiated more than 4,000 successful Royal Projects that cover all aspects of development, all of which have contributed to the stability and sustainability of the nation. In addition to being known as the  “Working Monarch”, His Majesty is also regarded as the ‘soul’ of the nation, and a representation of unity in Thailand.   

Distinguished Guests,

Thailand and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia share many similar characteristics.  Both our kingdoms have a well-respected and regarded monarch. Under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Arabia has seen remarkable changes throughout the kingdom from the economic, social, education, and infrastructure projects initiated by the King. The King’s endeavors are not limited by the country’s borders; the King is internationally recognised as an advocate of constructive global cooperation, seeking to resolve conflicts in the Arab and Islamic world, and forging friendships with countries around the world. 

Ladies and Gentlemen

I believe in the potential that lies between Thailand and Saudi Arabia.                  

There is much on which we can work together. The opportunities for achieving mutual benefit through cooperation are virtually endless – not just bilaterally, but in multilateral fora as well.

In this auspicious occasion, it gives me great honour to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz my best wishes for their happiness, good health, prosperity, and the growing friendship between the two Kingdoms and their peoples.
